If we are to preserve historic structures, conserve energy, maximize use of existing infrastructure capacity, use our transportation resources efficiently, and protect open space then we must build from the core, which is by definition “Smart Growth.”  Mr. O’Connor will present two recent examples of community revitalization in Kingston: the historic Kirkland Hotel (mixed use residential, office and commercial) and the Petit House (residential condominium).

Kevin joined RUPCO in 2002 which grew from a staff of 14 to 35 providing rental assistance to 1,400 households and owns or manages 240 unites of housing and several commercial units. Kevin spent 14 years with Hudson River Housing in Poughkeepsie. During this time HRH developed 156 unites including homeless housing, homeownership, rental housing and commercial space. Mr. O’Connor graduated from Marist College in 1983 with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts. He lives in New Paltz with his wife Maria and their three children.
