Division of Housing and Community Renewal Deputy Commissioner will present a review of the resources the Office of Community Renewal makes available to communities to support their downtown and local revitalization efforts, including the New York Main Street and NYS Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Programs. This will be preceded by a five minute video titled, "Municipal Leaders Speak Out: Affordable Housing Works!"
Joe Rabito is responsible for the management of nearly $100 million in federal and state community development resources in 2009. Prior to his appointment in April 2007, Rabito served as the City of Albany’s Commissioner of Development and Planning. Joe also served as President of the Albany Local Development Corporation and Executive Director for the City of Albany Industrial Development Agency. Before joining Mayor Jennings’ administration, Joe served the federal government as Chief Economic Developer for then Secretary Andrew Cuomo at the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development, where he managed critical federal development activity in nearly every county in upstate New York. As a member of the working group for the NYS Economic Recovery and Reinvestment Cabinet, Rabito is part of the team that will help municipalities access federal Economic Recovery funds.
