Folks, we are trying a newer, easy-to-maintain format to get you news from SHV and the world of sustainability, with reports in this blog and emails to supporters when new news is posted.

Thanks to the Fund for Environment and Urban Life for a $15,000 grant to support SHV's Kingston Green Trail initiative.  This new foundation meets a major need to help cities take very concrete local action to protect people, nature and economic assets through greener development.  This grant supports our involvement in the City of Kingston, and also includes a $5,000 challenge grant that can be used to buy bike racks, garden frames and plants, or program resources for the community - if matched with dollars or in-kind contributions as our efforts progress.

Welcome to new Board member Tom Kacandes, MBA, who strengthens SHV's talent and connections in the world of green business through his role as Director of Business Development for Tech City Properties and his rich history in recycling market development.  Welcome also to re-activating Board member Deborah Nazon, Ph.D., who has just completed her degree in Ecological Economics, Values and Policy at RPI.
